In 2007 TASCHEN released The New Erotic Photography, followed in 2012 by The New Erotic Photography 2.

Each book featured hundreds of fresh and provocative images from the world’s most intriguing erotic talents. Now the best of both books is available in The New Erotic Photography, featuring 62 photographers from 10 countries, exploring the global variations of erotic photography, as well as the evolution of photographic media over the last decade. We see film give way to digital, while those who persist with film are as likely to use Polaroids and primitive cameras like the Lomo and Holga as traditional SLRs.

A graphic exploration of the origin of hardcore

Long, long ago, in the year 1965, there was no explicit pornography. There was the odd grainy stag film, the occasional French postcard, the rare Cuban chapbook or homemade Polaroid, but the glossy professional color pornography ubiquitous to modern society did not exist. The man who changed all that was Berth Milton of Stockholm, with his audacious little digest, Private. He and Private were directly responsible for Swedish Parliament's decision to treat sexually explicit materials as protected free speech, leading to the abolition of obscenity laws over most of northern Europe. With its smiling, exuberantly uninhibited models, Private created a fantasy of Sweden as the most liberated country on earth, a sexual wonderland that enchanted men around the globe. Publisher Milton was the magazine's sole photographer, so the Private paradise was very much his personal dream. Genius and tyrant, he insisted on only the best for his magazine, rising in the 1970s to become the Hugh Hefner of Hardcore.

This five-volume, 960-page mini-boxed set presents the best of Private from 1970 to 1979. Each 192-page book features seven to ten of the best photo sets, arranged in chronological order, produced from the original color transparencies. Also included are photos never seen in the magazine, plus behind-the-scenes photos of Milton at work and all of the magazine covers. Vintage art, ads, and editorials complete this fascinating look at the birth of pornography and the infamous Swedish Sin.

The nude has always particularly captivated artists and viewers, with the depiction of the human body a classic exercise in all forms of fine art. This fascination in no way waned with the arrival of a new art form – photography. In fact, it has undoubtedly contributed both to the exploration of human anatomy and morphology as well as to the collective erotic imagination. Taken from the end of the nineteenth century to the present day, a selection of more than 300 photographs guides the reader through countless variations in the depiction of the nude, each with their own aesthetic, political, social, artistic and formal implications, through the works of major photographers. The volume concludes with an index of artists and biographies of the main photographers.

VICE’s irreverence and determination not to kowtow to advertisers has led to an aesthetic that began simply as unique but has grown into a culture that has defined an entire epoch of underground photography. Whether it’s ex-cons showing how to make a shiv-proof vest out of National Geographics or the homeless garbage eaters in Bangladesh posing for a hipster fashion shoot, VICE is never satisfied with simply presenting a well-composed photograph. The book will be divided into five parts. "Vice Photographers" will juxtapose the work of established names (see above) against up-and-comers like Jamie Warren, Jerry Hsu and Patrick O’Dell. After interviews with and portfolios from seven of each group, we’ll turn to "Vice’s Photojournalism" highlights. These images will be culled both from the magazine’s editorial content over the years and from the photo issues VICE has put out annually since April 2001. The third section will be "Vice Fashion," which includes shoots like "Anna Wintour, You’re Wrong" wherein VICE featured overweight women in seductive poses, or the "Sex Issue’s" fashion shoot that had every well-dressed model fornicating with the next. The final two sections are a collage of previously published VICE favorites and new stuff discovered since the last photo issue.

The result is an eye-popping anthology that beautifully illustrates the best of recent alternative photography from around the world.

Albert Watson has made his mark as one of the world's most successful fashion and commercial photographers during the last three decades, while creating his own art along the way. Over the years, his striking images have appeared on more than 250 covers of Vogue and have been featured in countless other publications - many of the photographs iconic portraits of rock stars, actors and other celebrities. Albert Watson, born in Edingburgh in 1942, is among the world's most revered fashion and commercial photographers. He studied graphic design and film before launching his career in photography in Los Angeles in 1971. He moved to New York in 1976 and began photographing extensively for magazines as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, GQ, Live, Time, Rolling Stone and Stern. He was the official Royal Photographer for Prince Andrew's wedding to Sarah Ferguson.
