Drawing on ancient knowledge applied to modern living, this handbook will help you shift from stressed, anxious and overwhelmed to creative, grounded and happy

In an increasingly frenetic and fractured world, we have lost the essence of ourselves. This book is a guide to stripping away artifice in your life to discover your 'broad place', where you come into contact with your higher self, the truth of yourself, as a creative and conscious human.

High-Grade Living demonstrates how a strong foundation of meditation can benefit all areas of your life, from the home to relationships, creativity and happiness. The book examines how to audit, edit and refine your home through considered exercises on assessing excess and determining how well your possessions reflect who you are. Other prompts will help your creativity flow in many forms and establish how your words and actions embody who you want to be. Practical advice is supplemented with inspiration from a long-time practitioner of Integrated Meditation and founder of multiple businesses who has lived life at the extremes of stress and anxiety, and now teaches others the grounded, innovative and resilient approach that brought her back to herself.

Poem of Colors. The most remarkable abodes from Costa Careyes to the Yucatán Peninsula

South of the border, rich colors and woven textiles form a unique design aesthetic, crafted by the union of local Aztec and Mayan cultures and Spanish influences. Bienvenue. The textures and tones of dreamy Provence

Enter a land of tranquil cobbled squares, rustic earthenware, and lavender fields. In this survey of Provençal homes and interiors, discover all of the rural charm that enraptured such artists as Vincent van Gogh and Picasso. From lavish chateaus to quiet, antique retreats, this updated edition is complete with insightful captions, enthralling double spreads, and new photography.

Nestled in the south of France, bordering the Mediterranean Sea, is a land renowned for its lavender fields, fine cuisine, golden sun, and dreamy landscapes.

The region of Provence has inspired such masters as Alphonse Daudet and Vincent van Gogh. So enthralled was Paul Cézanne by the Mont Sainte-Victoire that he immortalized it in a series of paintings. We enter his Provence studio, which still looks the same as it did over a century ago, as well as the house where Frédéric Mistral, 1904 Nobel Prize winner, lived and wrote. We also admire the wrought-iron staircase and embroidered curtains of the Hotel Nord-Pinus in Arles, which hosted the likes of Napoleon III, Jean Cocteau, and Picasso.

This updated edition gathers the region’s most remarkable homes and interiors, complete with insightful captions, enthralling double spreads, and brand new photography. Across picturesque villages perched atop rocky hillsides, quaint gardens filled with olive trees and the heady scent of lavender, tiled rooftop terraces and warm, ochre tones: this book paints a gorgeous picture of Provençal living.

Rise and Sprawl: How Los Angeles Came To Be. A pictorial history of the City of Angels

From the first known photograph taken in Los Angeles to its most recent sweeping vistas, this photographic tribute to the City of Angels provides a fascinating journey through the city's cultural, political, industrial, and sociological history. It traces the city's development from the 1880s' real estate boom, through the early days of Hollywood and the urban sprawl of the late 20th century, right up to the present day. With over 500 images, L.A. is shown emerging from a desert wasteland to become a vast palm-studded urban metropolis.

Events that made world news - including two Olympics, Bobby Kennedy's assassination, and the Rodney King riots - reveal a city of many dimensions. The entertainment capital of the world, Hollywood, and its celebrities are showcased along with many other notable residents, personalities, architects, artists, and musicians. The city's pop cultural movements, its music, surfing, health food fads, gangs, and hot rods are included, as are its notorious crimes and criminals. This book depicts Los Angeles in all its glory and grit, via hundreds of freshly discovered images including those of Julius Shulman, Garry Winogrand, William Claxton and many other superb photographers, culled from major historical archives, museums, private collectors, and universities. These are given context and resonance through essays by renowned California historian Kevin Starr and Los Angeles literature expert David L. Ulin.

Poses of Peace. Michael O’Neill’s meditation on the essence of yoga

It’s taken yoga several thousand years to journey from a handful of monasteries dotting the Himalayas to the myriad studios of London, Lower Manhattan, and beyond. Whether bathing with holy men in the Ganges or joining the chorus of a thousand voices chanting “om,” photographer Michael O’Neill decided to devote himself to experiencing and recording the world of yoga at this critical juncture in its history. The result is a powerful photographic tribute to the age-old discipline turned global phenomenon, with over 250 million practitioners united in physical, spiritual, and mindful practice worldwide.

Famous for his photographs of the famous, O’Neill first set out to make portraits of the most influential yogis of our time — B. K. S. Iyengar, T. K. V. Desikachar, and Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, among others — as well as those known for integrating yoga into their high-profile lives, such as Donna Karan, Sting, and Trudie Styler. But as his yoga and meditation practice deepened, so did his drive to look past the personalities and the poses to document the roots of yoga. Over ten years O’Neill trekked beyond the traditional epicenters to meditate with monks in the Tibetan Plateau, live with sadhus in their tents at the Kumbh Mela, and marvel at the boys who practice the little-known discipline of Mallakhamba at the wrestling grounds in Kochi.

This extraordinary body of work tells the story of yoga as it’s never been told before, with nearly 200 photographs. Two of O’Neill’s most important subjects, meditation master His Holiness Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji and yogi Eddie Stern, join the conversation with their essays on the role of yoga in contemporary culture, the history of the practice from the time of Patanjali, and the healing power of “the architecture of peace,” a series of postures that bring the practitioner closer to touching the infinite.

The photographer:

In his five-decade career, Michael O’Neill has photographed the cultural icons of his time, from Andy Warhol to the Dalai Lama, for publications including the New York Times MagazineRolling Stone, and Vanity Fair. He has had solo shows of his work at Visa pour l’image (Perpignan, France); at II Mes Internacional da Fotografia (São Paulo, Brazil); and Houk Friedman (New York). His photographs reside in the collections of the Walker Art Center, among other museums. He is the subject of the 2017 documentary On Yoga: The Architecture of Peace.

The contributing authors:

Eddie Stern is a yoga teacher, author, app creator, and lecturer from New York City. His practical approach to teaching and practicing yoga is a mix of science, religion, philosophy, and social service.

H.H. Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji is one of India’s most revered and beloved spiritual leaders. He is President of Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh (home of the annual International Yoga Festival) and founder of Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, Divine Shakti Foundation, and Ganga Action Parivar, and India Heritage Research Foundation.

Mountains, one of nature’s greatest masterpieces, in their rugged beauty, breathtaking views from the top, clear air, green pastures, mountain lakes and glaciers, have captivated mankind all along. Climbing mountains or just gazing at their majestic splendour causes us to slow down and contemplate, maybe even giving us a little serenity.

Photographer Tim Hall beautifully captures the powerful solace of mountains in his images. He often chooses to shoot in dramatic weather, making his work and the photographed mountains look even more stunning and transcendent. The intention to strike an emotional or spiritual chord is evident in much of his landscape work, which is inspired by Rothko and Turner. The influence of painting in his work stems from his studies of Art History at Manchester University.

Mountains: Beyond the Clouds presents the extensive Alpine mountain range, including famous landmarks such as the Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and the Dolomites.

About the Author:

Tim Hall is a British Fine Art Photographer, who specializes in travel, landscape, and portraiture. His drive to see the world through the lens of a camera was inspired by the romance of 19th-century travellers and more recently, National Geographic photographers. The work is a lyrical response to the people and places that he has visited and shows his deep interest in the urban and natural world as well as the people who inhabit them. With over 20 years of experience as a project-based photographer, his works are often conceived as a series, exhibited as a collective body, or bought as single pieces. Tim lives in London and is represented by contemporary art galleries across Europe, South East Asia, and the USA.

- A breathtaking photographic ode to the Alps
- With additional information on the shown regions and mountains
