Perhaps you suffer from it too! it starts as a hobby, a collection, a job, an interest... then somehow it grows taking over your life, every waking moment becoming part of the obsession... our obsession, manifest in sleepless nights, haunted days, the angst over imperceptible detail, the quest for perfection.

The disorder is unknown, the cure - success. This year, 2012, OFFF Barcelona celebrates the designers infected with the Unknown Disorder and showcases their work, the symptoms of obsession. The festival book develops the diagnostic theme, presenting the work of this years artists as a series of patient files in the hospital of OFFF.

Each file presents original work by the artists including some made specifically for the festival. The book allows reader feedback by way of device scan-able barcodes which will be used to develop info-graphic artwork later in the year.

This year the roster of artists includes publically submitted work alongside such luminaries as: Daniel Eatock, Lucy McRae, Radical Friend, Jessica Hische, 1st Ave Machine, Yuko Shimizu, Attik, James Victore, Andreu Balius, Brosmind, Folch Studio, Carlitos y Patricia, Mario Lombardo, Catalina Estrada, Sehsucht, Ritxi Ostáriz, Losiento, Emil Kozak...

The book design is by Doce Collective and contains a special case-file dedicated to their obsession with the theme of 'twelve' .

The book includes a selection of the sketches that Lanfranco Bombelli drafted, first in Paris and later in Barcelona, for the graphics of the exhibitions in the American Trade Centers in Milan, Stockholm, Paris and Frankfurt, from 1963 to 1978, until they were closed, as a continuation of what the Marshall Plan had been. His artistry in geometrical compositions is based on a minimum of plastic means and inspired by mathematical principles. He depicts in this way new products of technological innovation in the fields of pharmaceutics, design industry or printing among others.

Created in the border between the Western world, the Arab world and the New World, with the experience of a former global empire and the mind-set of a bull, Spain has always followed it’s own path. For better and for worse, it’s people have done things their way. Pulled by different cultures in different directions, the forces that sculpted this country have produced an exotic and unique phenomenon. It’s exotic because there is none like it. It’s unique because, ironically, it’s a place made from differences. The young artists in this book/exhibition make use of various strokes, media and resources, to show how their culture is still under construction. WEMADETHIS.ES is an instant that captures, with diverse languages, the singular undergoing project that is Spain.

In the history of the decorative arts, there has never been another designer who has achieved such lasting impact. While lamenting the excesses of mass-production, he set up the firm of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner and Company. Soon it was producing a range of goods, from hand-woven tapestries, carpets and printed textiles to stained glass, metalwork and furniture. What the company offered was quite simply a way of life.

In 'William Morris and the Arts & Crafts Home', Pamela Todd celebrates Morris’s genius for decoration and design and shows how he envisaged and implemented schemes for interiors in his own homes and those of others, passionately believing that beautiful surroundings promoted creativity and happiness.

To demonstrate how the style can be applied to our living spaces today a series of ‘Case Studies’ explores six contemporary homes – from a modern London townhouse to a traditional Arts and Crafts house in Massachusetts – that have followed and adapted Morris’s guiding principles.

Internationally acclaimed for his compelling work in glass, William Morris approaches the demands of glassblowing and glass sculpting with an experimental eye and an innovative hand. Morris, who lives and works near Seattle, has collaborated with master glass blowers as well as renowned painters and sculptors in making art that is widely admired by artists, sought by collectors, and praised by critics. For him, glass is an endlessly intriguing material-fragile yet timeless, preserving the spontaneity of the creative moment unlike any other medium. In this strikingly handsome volume of recent work, Morris explores themes related to archaeology, animals, and the hunt. His Crows, Ravens, and Rhytons embody his intellectual interest in myth and ancient history, as well as his keenly intuitive understanding of the natural world.

The Asian countries seek to dominate global markets not only in the area of science, technology and management, but also in the area of design, which is playing an increasingly crucial role in their strategic economic plans. One of their clear trends is the conscious use of traditional themes in combination with contemporary styles. Whether kimonos or packiging, Shinto shrines or computer designs, the viewer is stimulated by a wealth of inspiring visual stimuli. This book presents an overview of the current trends of the young Asian - Pacific design scene. Though the featured works, ideas and products vary very much from each other, they exemplify one thing for sure: The initiated dialogue between cultures and across national borders is increasingly gaining in importance.
