Just as its name implies, innovation means unsatisfactory to the current situation and process of developing new methods and techniques. It could be applied to tool and technology, procedure, and work pattern etc.

Innovation in architecture refers much to the changes in the façade of the architecture, the transformation of the interior structure, the development and application of the low-carbon materials, the improvement of the façade techniques and the load-bearing techniques, the regulating of the architectural functions, and the combination of architecture and environment.

This book compiles more than one hundred projects (mainly foreign projects) and categorizes these projects into categories of morphology innovation, structural innovation, material innovation, technology innovation, and function innovation according to the innovation concept in architecture. The innovation of these projects independently uses models of a certain kind of innovation or combines some classical models of several innovation patterns at the same time. We hope that the advancing innovation concepts in foreign architectures could bring more idea collision to the insiders of the architectural industry and help them create more new and better architectures for the world’s development.

Contemporary residential architecture is a clear reflection of social and economic change. Leaving aside the familiar terraced homes found on so many housing estates, this architectural field is producing novel, innovative designs showing technical advances in construction technology applied to single family homes. This book offers a comprehensive selection of family residences from all over the world, original, personalised constructions which reflect ther owners' requisities and preferences. In today's home, anthing is possible. The residences reviewed in this volume show how a very wide range of materials can be used to adapt costructions to their surroundings, and not vice-versa. It portraits original solutions and novel techniques for blending architecture with its entrourage or conversely creating a powerful visual and aesthetic contrast. Each of the homes in "Architecture Inspirations" are comprehensive projects where exterior and interior design carry equal weight. This book aims to present the latest trends in residential architecture and interior design, propose a variety of styles, and serve as a source of inspiration to readers. On about 720 pages 75 houses will be presented in chapters where projects are grouped by geographical location as city and suburban, village, country, mountain or waterfront to allow a maximum clarity and so that readers may identify instantly with the works illustrated.

The fine line between art and architecture is rapidly becoming harder to perceive. With the aid of sophisticated computer programs, today's most innovative architects are working on designs so conceptual they could not be realized in the physical world. Nevertheless, these sorts of forward-thinking projects are an important influence on the architectural climate.

At the dawn of the 21st century, architecture is entering a paradigm shift; no longer can it be completely distinguished from art. Be they built from bytes or bricks, the projects in this book represent the imagination of the planet's most talented and creative architects. For all the latest and most important architectural projects and trends, look no further than this volume, the follow-up to our popular and groundbreaking book "Architecture Now!"

After the Fall. Architecture in a new Economic Climate

TASCHEN's Architecture Now! 7 features an arching overview of today's architecture, from modern to radically avant-garde. As with previous books in the series, Architecture Now! 7 includes a broad variety of projects from around the world, as well as some works of art that have a direct relation to architecture, from the likes of Giacomo Costa or Shinro Ohtake. It also explores how the recent economic downturn has led to fewer large-scale projects but has also stimulated creative thinking, as architects find new ways to work imaginatively inside budget constraints. Large-scale works include the futuristic Chinese Central TV Tower in Beijing (OMA) and the Burj Khalifa (SOM), the world's tallest tower and centerpiece of the Gulf region's most prestigious urban development to date.

For anyone interested in the zeitgeist and building design in the 21st century, Architecture Now! 7 is an essential work of reference. Easy-to-navigate illustrated A–Z entries include current and recent projects, biographies, contact information, and websites.
