About the Author:

Sean Adams is a founding partner of the award-winning California design firm AdamsMorioka and has been cited as one of the 40 most important people shaping design internationally. A former AIGA national board member and president of AIGA Los Angeles, he teaches at ArtCenter College of Design and is a frequent lecturer and competition judge. Sean is the coauthor of Logo Design Workbook and Color Design Workbook and author of the series Masters of Design. He lives and works in Los Angeles.

The British architect Quinlan Terry has created this book as the ultimate guide to classical architecture. With detailed sketches, he illustrates both the principals of which Classical architecture is based and the ornament that enriches it. The tradition of this architecture persisted into the 20th century when other ideals began to take over. Terry, who is a strong advocate of classical architecture, wants to refocus on the kind of architecture which was dominant in the western world for almost 2,000 years, but whose background and structure is little known today.

The book contains many of Quinlan Terry's drawings, sketches from travels and linoleum prints.

About the Authors:

Patrick Baty is the author of The Anatomy of Colour and owner of Papers and Paints, a specialist paint business in London. His great grandfather, the artist Robert Bevan, was described by a former director of the National Gallery as being ‘perhaps the first Englishman to use pure colour in the 20th century’. He runs a consultancy that advises on the use of paint and colours in historic buildings and has worked with Dulux and Little Greene to develop ranges of traditional paint colours for English Heritage. He also lectures frequently on the subject of paint and colour of the 18th and 19th centuries.
