The Regency Country House is the first book to provide a comprehensive survey of the key English country houses of 1800 to 1830. It is written by John Martin Robinson, leading architectural historian, herald, and librarian to the Duke of Norfolk, who is author of numerous books including Buckingham Palace the official illustrated history.

This new book is divided into three parts: it looks at the princely palaces and houses associated with the Prince Regent, from Brighton Pavilion to Buckingham Palace, the nobleman's houses such as Tregothnan, Eastnor Castle and Goodwood and gentleman's houses such as Southill, Bedfordshire and Sheringham, Norfolk.

The book will illustrate work by leading country houses architects including the Wyatt dynasty, Henry Holland, John Nash, Thomas Hopper, Humphry Repton and Sir John Soane - as well as regional designers such such as Dobson of Newcastle and Webster of Kendal.

Imagine a dwelling so splendid that the king of France, after spending the evening there as a guest, claps the owner in jail for the rest of his life for attempting to overshadow the monarchy! Vaux-le-Vicomte is but one of many chateaux featured in this volume that could incite the envy of royals. These timeless residences, many of which are still in private hands today, collectively depict the noble heritage of the French nation and a sense of its glory.

Highest-quality photographs that often bleed off the page to fill entire spreads allow the viewer to fall into the pictures, making one feel as if one is actually living the fairy tale life depicted here rather than suffering the fate of an armchair reader.

The photographs portray not only the buildings' exteriors but also their formal gardens and grounds, resplendent interior furnishings, and fabulous art treasures.

A map at the beginning of the book highlights the wide geographic distribution of the chateaux, including a number of architectural marvels from Paris and environs.

With 330 color illustrations, this is highly recommended as a sumptuous overview of the subject.

Since its foundation in 1897, Country Life has consistently featured new British houses, thus building up an unrivalled photographic archive on twentieth-century architecture and one that covers a much wider variety of houses than any other.

This archive forms the basis for Alan Powers' new study of twentieth-century houses, illustrated with 200 stunning colour and duotone photographs, some of which are reproduced here for the first time. The book is divided into chronological chapters covering the 1920s to the 1990s, preceded by an enlightening introductory essay on the changing nature of architectural style over the course of the century.

Both town and country houses are included, as well as remodellings of earlier buildings where the result has a clear twentieth-century character, such as London's glorious Eltham Palace.

The austere facades that line the labyrinthine streets of Morocco's ancient walled neighborhoods reveal almost nothing of the luminous residences within. The Villas and Riads of Morocco lifts the veil on these secret paradises, from fantastic palaces in Fez and Essaouira to middle-class riads in Marrakech to converted casbahs in the southern oases. With more than 200 stunning photographs, this beautiful volume takes us behind the scenes to explore a side of Morocco that is largely hidden to outsiders.

The book showcases exquisite interiors that combine rich materials such as cedar and marble; luxurious carpets and textiles; filigree carving and other handiwork; and vibrant color palettes. Also featured is the remarkable mosaicwork found especially in the central courtyard gardens and patios that form the heart of the Moroccan house. Accompanying these sumptuous views is a vivid history of the country's residential architecture and its fascinating mix of Andalusian, Arab, and Saharan influences. The Villas and Riads of Morocco not only offers a feast for the eyes but also illuminates an entire culture. AUTHOR BIO: Corinne Verner is a cultural anthropologist who lives in Marrakech. She is also a scriptwriter and has written a documentary film series for television. Cécile Tréal and Jean-Michel Ruiz are photojournalists and members of the Gamma and Hoa-Qui agencies. They have spent many years in Casablanca and have collaborated on several publications on Morocco, Madagascar, and the Maghreb.

Tropical Design is not an established architectural style, but a collective description of architecture and interior design in tropical countries, designed by architects from around the equator. Rooted in the traditional style of architecture that is typical in these countries and influenced by the European modern style, a unique architectural language has developed that reflects contemporary tendencies and corresponds to the climatic requirements. As multifaceted as nature in the tropical regions, the architecture in the projects presented here is just as diversified.

From " Las Terrazas" by Legoretta+Legoretta glowing under the Mexican sun to the romantic "Anantara" on the Maledives Island to the spacious and modern "LPVM House" by Biselli e Katchborian in Brasil - the book offers a small insight into the contemporary style from tropical countries. An index of contact information of the designer and architects is enclosed.

This lavishly illustrated book presents the interiors of more than twenty Tuscan homes owned by some of the most renowned artists in the world today, among them Pietro Cascella, Sandro Chia, Isanna Generali, Igor Mitoraj and Gianni Ruffi.

The book documents a variety of housing types, from villas and country homes to refurbished industrial buildings and castles, setting the stage for fascinating juxtapositions of architecture and design, and demonstrating wildly differing approaches to restoration and remodelling. Anyone seeking original design ideas will find this sumptuous book a rich source of inspiration.

While they work within a framework of structures and interiors saturated with Tuscan culture, all the artists draw deeply on their own creativity and cultural backgrounds to create distinctive, often stunning, houses. Here, they elaborate on their themes, aspirations and inspirations in specially commissioned portraits of themselves at home or in the studio.

Mariella Sgaravatti sheds light on the ways in which each interior has been adapted to reflect the owner’s personal vision, while Mario Ciampi’s photographs vividly convey the ambience created by each artist.

Why do people feel drawn to Tuscany?
Because of the timeless beauty of the scenery, of course, with its cypresses and olive trees with their unusual colours and ever-changing forms.
But also because of the ancient culture, which goes back to the Etruscans and the Romans.
There is also the knowledge of life that can be read in the magnificence and detachment of the faces of the Tuscans, who defy the rough, yet generous countryside around them.
And finally: the authenticity. This seems to have withstood the test of time and it gives a new, true meaning to our existence.
This book is not just a collection of articles on authentic, tastefully restored houses.
It is primarily the reflection of the passion of men and women who, one day, fell in love with a ruin in Tuscany: a pieve, or parish church, with origins in the fifth century, an eleventh-century fortified tower, an eighteenth-century casa colonica, a castle with Etruscan origins, an ancient farmhouse... Every report shows the passion of the new owners for the rich history of their country house and their respect for something that was once glorious, but that has not withstood the centuries.
Everyone who wants to renovate in an authentic way feels this respect, which in a sense prevents us from giving totally free rein to our creativity. The result is then permeated with strong emotion, with tremendous intensity: moments of grace and perfect bliss that the new owners have found in Tuscany.
